This artwork depicts Nichiren, a Buddhist monk, standing on a rock and praying while waves crash around him. The scene is set during his exile to Sado Island in Japan. The artist, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, was known for his depictions of historical and mythical figures in dramatic and dynamic poses. This piece showcases his skill in capturing movement and emotion. The use of vibrant colors and intricate details in the waves and Nichiren's robes add to the overall impact of the artwork. Created on paper between 1833 and 1837, this piece is a prime example of the ukiyo-e style of Japanese woodblock printing.

You can wipe it off with microfiber cloth or damp cloth with water and soft soap (shampoo). If your frame has canvas without glass, we recommend simply dust using a dry soft and fine brush. Refrain from using wood polish or cleaning sprays since this could potentially create moisture and possibly damage the artwork.
Dust your frames regularly to avoid the accumulation of dirt. If you want to disassemble the frame for an even more thorough cleaning, be sure to lay the various components onto a clean, dust-free towel or blanket. Make sure all components are completely dry before reassembly.
